DENVER (KDVR) — A new robot was called into action after old dynamite was found in a Douglas County resident’s shed.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office revealed the “Andros Spartan robot” in early June, which the community named Johnny 5-0 in an apparent reference to the 1980s science fiction comedy film “Short Circuit.” After introducing the robot about a month ago, Johnny 5-0 is already in action.

The sheriff’s office said the Douglas County Bomb Squad was first called to a shed after old dynamite that belonged to a former resident who owned a construction company was found inside a metal container.
Since the dynamite was old, which makes it “extremely unstable,” the sheriff’s office said Johnny 5-0 was called onto the scene. A video posted on the sheriff’s office’s social media shows the robot safely removing the stick of dynamite.
The sheriff’s office said the robot moved the dynamite out of the shed, and it was transported to a secure location with a pre-dug blast pit that was counter-charged with an explosive. The robot backed off, and the team “initiated an emergency disposal” with a controlled detonation…
