Cameras, stop sticks, tracker, K-9s and drone used to stop suspected car thief in pursuit

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — New dashboard and body camera footage shows the lengths local sheriffs took to take down a suspected car thief using Flock cameras, stop sticks, trackers, drones and K-9s in a recent pursuit.

Footage shows the start of a Douglas County pursuit on the night of June 20 after deputies got an alert from a Flock camera, which is a camera network that includes license plate recognition software, about a stolen car.

“Stolen vehicles is the nexus for most property crimes and even some persons crimes like robberies and things like that,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said. “So systems like the Flock systems that do the license plate readers, they tell you in real time when criminals are coming into your community.”
