(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) reported that deputies made a routine traffic stop leading to an arrest and the seizure of a significant amount of drugs on the morning of Monday, June 30.
According to EPSO, around 3 a.m., deputies conducted a patrol check at the Travelodge Hotel on Space Village Avenue, just north of the Colorado Springs Airport, in unincorporated El Paso County. They observed a spray-painted black Subaru Legacy without license plates entering the hotel parking lot. As the car parked, deputies pulled a marked patrol unit behind it to allow them to investigate what appeared to be a stolen vehicle.
The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Hayden Cutter, abruptly tried to get out of the Legacy in an attempt to avoid contact with the deputies, according to EPSO. Deputies started talking to Cutter, and as they did so, they saw several pieces of drug paraphernalia in plain view, as well as a large knife within Cutter’s immediate reach.
EPSO reported that deputies then searched the vehicle and found:
- 86 grams of methamphetamine
- 15 fentanyl pills
- A large knife
- A replica “UZI” airsoft gun
- Additional drug paraphernalia
Cutter was arrested and taken to the El Paso County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Special Offender, and No License Plate Attached. he is currently being held on a $75,000 bond…
