(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers responded to a burglary in progress in the area of South Academy Boulevard and East Fountain Boulevard on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 3, in which the burglar was found sleeping in the victim’s bed.
According to CSPD, around 2 a.m., when officers arrived at the scene in the 1600 block of Zebulon Drive, they found the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Chance Garcia, sleeping in the victim’s bed within the home. While officers were in the process of arresting Garcia, he broke out the window of the police cruiser and assaulted an officer.
Garcia was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on probable cause for First Degree Burglary and other charges, according to CSPD…
