2 alleged would-be thieves arrested outside Home Depot

DENVER (KDVR) — A pair of alleged would-be thieves were arrested after attempting to steal more than $1,000 in unpaid merchandise from a Home Depot, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The DCSO said on X Tuesday that the suspects, a man and a woman, illegally parked a truck in a handicap spot in front of the Home Depot before hiding merchandise inside light fixture boxes as a way to avoid paying for everything at checkout.

The suspects are alleged to have attempted to steal $1,046 in stolen merchandise. Deputies were alerted to the situation by loss prevention inside the store according to the DCSO, which did not specify which Home Depot was the target of the alleged theft attempt.

After being detained, a search of the woman suspect found a bottle containing pills resembling fentanyl and two baggies of a “white crystalline substance” resembling methamphetamine, the DCSO said.

The sheriff’s office said a search of the suspect vehicle also uncovered additional narcotics and drug paraphernalia…
