CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. (KKTV) – An important symbol of remembrance has arrived in Cripple Creek this week. The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., is now on display at Cripple Creek High School, offering visitors an opportunity to honor the more than 58,000 service members who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
The wall stretches nearly 300 feet long and is engraved with the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Organizers say its purpose is not only to honor fallen heroes but also to help bridge the gap between generations, allowing younger visitors to connect with the history and human cost of the conflict.
“It’s a tribute to everybody that gave their life, and it means a lot to all of us that served,” Vietnam veteran Dick Bares said. “I think it’s important for younger generations to see this and understand what was sacrificed.”…
