Sheriff’s office investigates inmate’s death at El Paso County Jail

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) is investigating an inmate’s death after a man was found unresponsive at the El Paso County Jail on Friday morning, Aug. 15.

According to EPSO at 4:27 a.m. on Friday, the 37-year-old was found unresponsive in his bunk bed when deputies and medical staff responded and began lifesaving measures prior to the arrival of the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and American Medical Response (AMR).

At 4:38 a.m., CSFD and AMR arrived and took over medical care of the man before he was pronounced dead at 4:57 a.m. “Our Office extends our condolences to the individual’s family and friends during this difficult time,” wrote EPSO…
