Colorado Springs, Colo. – Severe thunderstorms are set to hammer Colorado Springs and much of southern Colorado Monday, bringing damaging winds, hail, and dangerous flash flooding. Interstate 25 travelers face the highest risk Monday afternoon into evening, when storms are likely to intensify quickly.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms could deliver wind gusts over 60 mph and hail up to one inch. Flash flooding remains a serious concern, particularly on recent burn scars and low-lying roads. Officials urge residents to avoid non-essential travel during peak storm hours and to stay alert for sudden flooding near creeks and intersections.
The greatest impacts are expected across El Paso, Teller, and Pueblo counties, but storms will extend east into the Plains by late evening.
