COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A stretch of Highway 24 through Manitou Springs is once again showing signs of erosion, just weeks after crews completed repairs in the same area.
The section in question sits eastbound between Cave of the Winds and Sunshine Trail, a busy corridor that funnels traffic into Colorado Springs. Viewers reached out to 11 News after noticing the shoulder of the highway beginning to wash away again, raising concerns about long-term safety.
Back in late July, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews worked to stabilize the road after flash flooding washed out large portions of the shoulder. But following recent storms, the problem has resurfaced. Drivers traveling through the area can now see sections of the roadway eroding, and with daily rain chances forecasted this week, the damage could worsen…
