(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) confirmed that the Animal Law Enforcement team recovered dead animals from a storage unit near Highway 24 and 31st Street in Colorado Springs.
According to HSPPR, the animals’ remains were recovered from a unit at the Extra Space Storage on Ore Mill Road. The team is working to identify the animals using available information and is committed to contacting affected families directly.
Cody Costra, HSPPR Public Information Officer, said, “If community members are concerned their pet may be impacted, we recommend they first reach out to the veterinary clinic or facility where their pet’s aftercare arrangements were made. We understand how difficult and emotional this situation is for our community, and we are taking it very seriously.”…
