In a demonstration of solidarity and insight, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Director, Deborah Takahara, showed her commitment to the story and the cadets under her watch by voluntarily enduring the sharp bite of a Taser during the academy’s Week 7 Taser training. Rather than just observing, Takahara stood in line with Class 21 cadets, electing to experience the jolting training tool to better understand and convey the intensity of law enforcement training.
The moment was not just for her own enlightenment, but also served as an unconventional teaching tool for the future deputies. “I felt like, in telling the cadets’ story, it was important to understand what they were experiencing.
