(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s (CSPD) newest K9, Roam, helped catch a suspect after detectives tracked down a stolen truck that was connected to a convenience store robbery.
According to CSPD, around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, detectives with the Metro Motor Vehicle Theft Unit found the truck in the area of South Institute Street, near Pikes Peak Avenue, and identified it as a vehicle that earlier in the week had been used in the robbery, during which the suspect had threatened to shoot the clerk.
Detectives identified the person driving the vehicle as the suspect from the robbery, and with the assistance of tactical teams from both CSPD and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, police attempted to contact the vehicle.
