Cat finds home after being homeless and losing an eye

(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) shared the story of Tiger, a cat that HSPPR came across a few weeks ago, who recently suffered a rough chapter in her life but was able to reach a happy conclusion.

According to HSPPR, Tiger had been living on the streets for a time before a Good Samaritan scooped her up and took her to HSPPR. However, Tiger had an eye that was so badly infected that HSPPR’s veterinary team had to perform an enucleation, or the removal of an eye.

HSPPR said after the surgery, Tiger couldn’t always tell when someone was approaching, and if they got too close without announcing themselves, she would swat at them. HSPPR’s behavior team worked with her, building up her confidence; however, she would still need a special home with no little kids, no other animals, and plenty of personal space.

Tiger would spend 54 days in the shelter, most of which were in the medical ward, but one day, Tiger met her person, and they were a perfect match.

“So if today you’re staring at the freezer aisle debating between cookie dough and pistachio, if you’re convinced nothing is ever going to get better, if you’re feeling like curling up and swatting at anyone who dares to touch you, remember Tiger. Because sometimes the worst chapters lead to the best plot twists,” wrote HSPPR. “The dreadful thing about life is that nothing is predictable. The wonderful thing about life is that nothing is predictable. And just when you’re certain nothing will ever work out… it does.”…
