CSPD: K9 Riggs apprehends crowbar-wielding domestic abuse suspect

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — K9 Riggs took down a crowbar-wielding suspect after he allegedly set fire to a victim’s belongings during a domestic violence incident and ran to a nearby business area, where he began breaking windows of businesses and vehicles, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD reported that on Saturday, Sept. 27, around 10 p.m., officers responded to a domestic violence-related incident, including felony menacing with a weapon, in the 2500 block of Centennial Boulevard, near West Fillmore Street and I-25.

Before the officers had arrived, the suspect had allegedly set fire to the victim’s belongings and run off. When officers and crew from the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) arrived, they provided aid to the victim and worked to contain the fire, which threatened nearby homes…
