CSPD: Alleged car thief caught, stolen Chevy found on Aerotech Drive

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed that a stolen 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer has been recovered, along with the arrest of the man who allegedly took it.

CSPD reports that the Trailblazer was originally stolen from the 200 block of North Academy Boulevard, near the intersection of North Academy and North Union Boulevard, on Tuesday, Sept. 2. A little over a month later, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, CSPD’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit (MVT) found the Chevy in the 1900 block of Aerotech Drive, near where East Fountain Boulevard meets South Powers Boulevard.

According to CSPD, an officer tried to stop the small SUV, but the driver, now identified as 31-year-old Mario Rascon, drove away in the stolen Trailblazer.
