Armed carjacking at mountain town dog park reportedly kicked off juvenile’s multi-county crime spree in Colorado

A male juvenile was taken into custody after allegedly committing an armed carjacking at a dog park in a remote Colorado mountain town.

According to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, the multi-county crime spree started on the morning of October 14 when the juvenile resident of Custer County allegedly used a firearm to steal a Mitsubishi SUV from a local resident at a dog park in the small 700-person town of Silver Cliff. This prompted a response from law enforcement, with Custer County Schools placed on ‘Lock-In’ status as a precaution.

The stolen vehicle was soon located in Fremont County’s Cañon City, which is roughly an hour drive away from where the alleged theft occurred…
