(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Cinemark is planning to add three rare IMAX screens to its theaters across the United States ahead of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” release, and Colorado Springs has been chosen as one of the three.
According to Variety, three Cinemark movie theaters will see the addition of a 70-millimeter IMAX screen, a format that is becoming increasingly popular with filmmakers and is fairly rare–only 30 70mm IMAX screens exist worldwide.
70mm IMAX uses a film more than double the size of the standard 35mm, which according to IMAX, means brighter images with increased resolution, deeper contrast, and the widest range of colors of IMAX capabilities.
