The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office in Colorado has warned property owners about a rise in mortgage and property fraud. Some individuals have filed fraudulent deeds, mortgages, or liens against properties without the owners’ knowledge or consent.
To address this, the Clerk’s Recording Department has launched a new Recording Notification Service (RNS) to help protect residents. The RNS is a free service that sends email alerts to property owners when documents with their registered names are filed.
