Uber driver fatally stabbed and left in field, former Olympic hopeful arrested

CIMARRON HILLS, Colo. — A former Olympic hopeful was arrested on Wednesday after an Uber driver was found dead in a field in El Paso County.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said 27-year-old Khayla Dawson was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 38-year-old Jeremy Campbell.

According to the arrest affidavit in the case, Campbell’s father reported his son missing at 3:45 a.m. Oct. 27. He reported that his son left their home at 10 p.m. the night before and that he worked as an Uber driver…
