On the night of October 31, 2025, Colorado Springs Police responded to a disturbance in the 1400 block of North El Paso Street. Officers found three adults with stab wounds: one male and two females. Another male and a young child were also inside the residence. The three injured adults were taken to a local hospital. The male victim, identified as 31-year-old Raymundo Medina-Cabrera, died from his injuries. The two female victims were treated for serious, life-threatening injuries. The second male, 33-year-old Matthew Reginar, had minor injuries and was taken into police custody.
After an investigation, Matthew Reginar was charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and child abuse. The child at the scene was not harmed. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on November 3, 2025, confirming Medina-Cabrera’s identity.
