CSPD: Suspect fires gun in crowded parking lot; multiple arrests made

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Police responded to a call regarding felony menacing involving a firearm after a suspect threatened three victims with a gun at an event around midnight on Sunday, November 16, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD stated that when officers arrived at the location in the 1600 block of Jet Wing Drive, the suspect and his vehicle were identified during the investigation. Police learned that as the event was ending, the suspect had been seen getting into his vehicle, then firing multiple shots in the crowded parking lot.

Officers in the area pursued the suspect, who refused to stop his vehicle, so police used vehicle intervention to end the chase. Three people in the car were detained. Two of the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Matthew Burgos and 21-year-old Zaquan Johnson, were arrested for Felony Menacing, Felony Eluding, Prohibited Use of a Weapon, and Reckless Endangerment based on information from the investigation.
