(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a driver was not wearing a seatbelt when she was thrown from a car and killed on Monday, Dec. 8.
According to CSPD, dispatchers received multiple calls just before 4 p.m. reporting a rollover crash at North Carefree Circle and Inspiration Drive in which a person was thrown from a car and was trapped beneath one of the cars. Responding emergency crews were able to free the trapped person, a 20-year-old woman, from beneath the car.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she died of her injuries. The other involved driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. CSPD said alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, though the woman did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt.
CSPD’s major crash team is investigating the crash.
