Colorado Springs adds new police technology surcharge

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs has approved a new surcharge designed to raise funding for the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) to invest in new technology.

According to CSPD, over the past two years, the police department has invested in new technology to improve response times, enhance citizen and officer safety, and increase efficiency and the services it provides.

CSPD said the new technology includes new body-worn cameras, new Tasers, a combined digital evidence platform, expansion of the CSPD drone program, development of the Real-Time Crime Center, new vehicle intelligence cameras, and several other systems…
