(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Strong winds were the main weather concern across Southern Colorado on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Firefighters told FOX21 News that winds like this can create fire and infrastructure concerns.
According to firefighters, dry vegetation means fires can spread faster, while downed power lines can create the perfect conditions for a wildland fire. A leader with the SOCO Interagency Wildland Fire Team said they are bringing in extra staff and equipment to prepare in case of a wind-related emergency.
