LARKSPUR, Colo. — A livestream of a camera pointed at young children on a playground swing set in California was livestreamed on the internet, with each moment of movement recorded and saved, with the ability for anyone who clicked on a freely available link to review movement on that camera at any point over the last month.
The camera was an AI-powered Flock camera, the same company inking government contracts for license plate scanning technology all over the United States to solve crimes. Instead, livestream links to 67 Flock surveillance cameras across the country were accessible on the open internet without requiring any login credentials, allowing anyone to watch real-time feeds and access up to 30 days of recorded footage, a report by 404 Media and Youtuber Benn Jordan revealed in reports this week.
