Warm and more above-normal temperatures for Dec. 26

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Today will feel much more like early fall than late December across southern Colorado once again. Strong west to southwest flow aloft in the upper atmosphere remains in place as an upper-level trough slowly approaches the western part of the country, keeping temperatures well above average and conditions dry for most areas.

Highs this afternoon will climb into the low 60s in Colorado Springs and into the upper 60s for Pueblo. Some spots could briefly touch the 70s if downslope winds become strong enough. Mountain valleys will also run mild, with highs reaching the 50s.

Winds will be noticeable, especially in the higher elevations, but breezy in the lower elevations. Gusty west to southwest winds will continue through the afternoon. Clouds will increase as the day goes on, signaling changes ahead, but most lower elevations remain dry. Overnight, we will be mild once again…
