(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) is celebrating 100 years of conservation in 2026.
The Zoo announced on Friday, Dec. 26 that admission would be free to the Zoo on New Year’s Day to celebrate, and within an hour, tickets were already sold out. However, just because the tickets were free doesn’t mean the Zoo’s conservation efforts will be hindered.
“Every visit to CMZoo supports efforts to save wildlife and wild places through our Quarters for Conservation (Q4C) program,” CMZoo said. “Every admission ticket generates 75 cents for Q4C. A generous donor has agreed to cover that contribution for all of our Jan. 1 visitors, so every free visit is still conservation in action!”
Since 2008, CMZoo said the Q4C program has generated more than $6 million directly contributed to frontline conservation efforts. The Zoo added that community support through patronage has also helped the zoo invest in scientific research to improve the animals’ welfare, and the resources needed to put what they learn into practice…
