CSPD: Security officer assaulted, injured during burglary

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A security officer is in the hospital with serious injuries after allegedly being assaulted by two suspects while they were attempting to break into a condemned building on Saturday, Dec. 27, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD reported that around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, reports came in of a possible burglary in progress at a condemned building in the 4300 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue, near South Murray Street, and a second call a short time later indicated that weapons were involved.

Officers responded to the scene and learned that a security officer had intercepted some people trying to enter the condemned building, according to CSPD.
