(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Community members in District 2 of Colorado Springs are initiating a recall effort against City Council member Tom Bailey, asserting he does not heed their concerns. The group Integrity Matters claims to have gathered enough signatures to initiate the recall process.
Integrity Matters required approximately 2,000 signatures to launch the recall, citing Bailey’s dismissive behavior toward community issues, including developments like the Royal Pines Apartments and the Ford Amphitheater. Organizer Tim Lewin stated, “We’re here because we felt like we weren’t being heard.”
Community members, led by Lewin, have expressed dissatisfaction with Bailey’s voting record and decisions. Lewin remarked, “Our elected representative, Bailey from District 2, he’s had a voting record that we just don’t agree with.” This recall effort reflects an extreme but necessary action, according to Lewin, aimed at being listened to by their elected officials.
