CSPD: Man arrested after shooting at niece on New Year’s Eve

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed that a man was arrested after a late-night altercation led to him allegedly shooting at his niece and girlfriend.

According to CSPD, just before 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, officers with the Sand Creek and Falcon divisions were sent to the intersection of Mount View Lane and Stanton Street, near North Nevada Avenue, on reports of shots fired during a domestic disturbance. After finding the victim, who police say was the niece of the suspect, officers learned that the incident took place in a residence in the 1000 block of Magnolia Street.

The victim told CSPD that the suspect, now identified as 42-year-old Aaron Wilson-Armstong, was intoxicated while arguing with her, then pulled a handgun out of his waistband. CSPD’s official report says that Wilson-Armstrong proceeded to point the gun at his niece and fired at least one shot into the air. The victim also said that Wilson-Armstrong’s girlfriend then tried to wrestle the gun away from him. CSPD states that in response he turned the gun on his girlfriend and possibly fired more shots into the air inside the home…
