(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Cimarron Hills Fire Department (CHFD) is hosting an esophageal precancer screening event for firefighters who face an elevated risk due to heightened exposure to carcinogenic materials.
The screenings are taking place on Tuesday, Jan. 6, Wednesday, Jan. 7, and Friday, Jan. 9, at the Cimarron Hills Headquarters.
According to CHFD, firefighters face a significantly higher risk of cancer than the average person, with a 62% higher risk of esophageal cancer.
