Suspect Wounded, Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Armed Carjacking Leads to Police Chase and Gunfire in Douglas County

A carjacking incident in Arapahoe County precipitated a high-speed chase by Douglas County deputies, culminating in an exchange of gunfire on Monday night. According to CBS News, the incident began around 8:30 p.m. with the armed carjacking in the area of Broadway and Panama, leading to the discovery of the vehicle in Highlands Ranch by the deputies. The suspect then fled, which prompted the ensuing chase through the area and around Highlands Ranch.

Deputies, with the support of the Littleton Police Department, attempted to stop the suspect using a tactical vehicle intervention technique near Santa Fe and C-470, reported Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly in a statement obtained by KDVR. This maneuver ended with the suspect ramming into police vehicles and one deputy being hit, who law enforcement says has sustained minor injuries.
