Father says video equipment was stolen from hospital parking lot as newborn daughter recovered from heart surgery

AURORA, Colo. — A Colorado Springs father keeping vigil at his newborn daughter’s hospital bedside became the victim of a theft at Children’s Hospital Colorado, losing equipment needed to support his struggling family.

“I was foolish, and I left some of my equipment in the car, and unfortunately, they got away with it, and some of the equipment they didn’t even take, but they broke it,” Ohl said.

The theft compounds mounting challenges for the family. Olive, born four weeks ago at Children’s, underwent open-heart surgery at four days old. After initially being discharged, she developed a severe infection within eight hours of returning home, requiring a second hospital stay…
