Man arrested for attempted murder after DougCo carjacking, chase

Authorities arrested a man in connection with a carjacking and ensuing chase through Highlands Ranch Monday night that left a sheriff’s deputy “bloodied and bruised.”

Daniel Reynaldo Tolentino, 43, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, aggravated robbery and felony menacing after he allegedly robbed a car from a car wash and shot at police attempting to catch him, according to a Thursday news release by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

“It is a miracle that our deputies were not killed. I am proud of both deputies who faced extreme danger,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said in the release. “Despite being shot at and rammed by the suspect’s vehicle, our injured deputy stayed in the fight and helped arrest the suspect.”…
