Gun found in Prospect Lake after person officers were trying to contact jumped into the water

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Law enforcement officers were on scene at Memorial Park on Thursday after Colorado Springs police said a person riding a dirt bike, who they were trying to contact, jumped into Prospect Lake with a gun on his hip that was no longer there when he exited the water.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers were following two people riding dirt bikes on the road, which are not street legal. CSPD said the Real Time Crime Center was contacted for drone and camera support, and Colorado State Patrol’s surveillance airplane was requested to watch the riders.

According to police, the riders were observed heading to Memorial Park, where they got off the bikes and walked to a picnic table…
