‘We have a big childcare crisis’: Colorado Springs officials and organization seeking public input on potential solution to ‘childcare desert’

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs city officials said they are seeking the public’s input on a potential solution to what local organizations have called a “childcare desert.”

“We have 47,000 children under the age of five in our county,” said Sherry Lynn Boyles, the CEO and president of the nonprofit Joint Initiatives, “and we only have 18,400 spots for 47,000 children.”
