Over 40K without power: 911 services, DIA affected

DENVER (KDVR) — Over 40,000 customers are without power on Sunday evening, with outages affecting 911 services in some areas and operations at Denver International Airport.

CORE Electric Cooperative told FOX31 that there was a major disturbance on the transmission system between itself and Xcel that led to the outages, and the two companies are working together to determine the cause.

CORE had tens of thousands of customers without power in areas, including:

  • Arapahoe County: 23,416
  • Douglas County: 20,242
  • Elbert County: 691
