Colorado College Student Accused of Trying to Hire Multiple People to Kill Dorm Mate for $500

Durango, Colorado — A 19-year-old Colorado college student is facing a first-degree murder solicitation charge after investigators say he repeatedly attempted to pay others to kill his dorm mate, turning to multiple people after the first potential accomplice refused and went to authorities.

Jackson T. Keller, a student at Fort Lewis College, was arrested on January 29 and later released after posting $50,000 bail, according to jail records. The investigation was conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in coordination with campus police.

Alleged plot unfolded inside college dorm

According to investigators, Keller and the alleged intended victim were teammates on the college football team and shared a dormitory bathroom, though they lived in separate rooms. Authorities say the two had once been friends, but their relationship had deteriorated in recent weeks.
