DougCo school district to get community input on potential MLO

As the Douglas County School District moves forward in exploring what a 2026 mill levy override would look like for the county, the district plans on reaching out to the community with a detailed poll in the coming months.

“I think it is a very good practice for an organization to conduct polling,” school board President Susan Meek said. “I think it helps us with our accountability as a board … I feel like polling is a way to explore what is kind of a common sense next step.”

The discussion over mill levy overrides, also known as an MLO, has been controversial throughout the Douglas County community in recent years, with some community members arguing it’s a perpetual tax increase.
