Fountain VFW set to reopen following an investigation

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — VFW Post 6461 in Fountain will hold a soft re-opening on Wednesday, Feb. 18, after closing last month for an internal investigation. The post provides services to more than 350 veterans in the Pikes Peak region.

The facility unexpectedly closed its doors in January following allegations of bylaw violations. While regional leaders have not provided specific details regarding the nature of the investigation, they confirmed that necessary corrections have been made to allow operations to resume.

Mindy King, the district commander for VFW District 5, said, “There was, a few things that they were able to outline that just needed to be a little bit more black and white,” King said. “And they were able to get those things fixed and were able to move forward from there.”…
