COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -During Black History Month, local historians are highlighting the role Buffalo Soldiers played in shaping the American West, including southern Colorado.
The Buffalo Soldiers were among the first all-Black Army regiments formed in 1866 after the Civil War. Historians say the soldiers helped protect trails and settlements across the frontier during westward expansion.
