Barnes and Noble opens new store near Powers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Wednesday, March 4, Barnes & Noble opened a new store in Colorado Springs in the area of North Powers Boulevard and South Carefree Circle.

Barnes & Noble said the new store will offer about 18,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, and gift items. The store will include a Barnes & Noble Cafe with mountain views and more. The store is located in the First & Main Town Center near Ulta and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

“Bookstores are enjoying an extraordinary renaissance, with new Barnes & Noble stores opening across the country, as also so many new independent bookstores,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “What could be more exciting than to have Rebecca Yarros opening our latest, in Colorado Springs. No author better exemplifies the excitement of books and reading, and the unique pleasures of bookstores as places of discovery.”

The grand opening featured an appearance by author Rebecca Yarros, writer of the Empyrean series of adult fantasy romance novels, who cut the ribbon officially opening the store. Barnes & Noble said people started lining up at 3 a.m. and traveled across the country, from as far as Louisiana, to meet their favorite author at their favorite bookstore…
