(COLORADO SPRINGS) — All week long on Loving Living Local, hosts Justin Antweil and Krista Witiak are highlighting females in the community who have been recognized for their hard work and commitment to amplify the community. One guest who perfectly fits that criteria is Lauren Jerden-Myers, who was recently named the 2026 Fort Carson Military Spouse of the Year.
The Military Spouse of the Year title is rooted in volunteerism and community outreach. It is peer-nominated and voted on.
“My platform focuses on food insecurity among military families, an issue that often remains unseen,” said Jerden-Myers, who helped orchestrate a food drive in December where over 1,000 military families received free meals. “According to recent Department of Defense surveys, at least one in four active-duty families will experience food insecurity at some point during their time in service. Beyond the financial strain, there is often shame attached to asking for help, and many families are navigating a new city without knowing what resources are available.”…
