CSPD investigates apparent armed car break-ins in Colorado Springs neighborhood

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is investigating after a man living in the Stetson Hills neighborhood captured two people on camera breaking into his vehicles armed with guns. Travis Cox said what was most concerning about the incident was that one of them was keeping their gun fixed on the front door of the home.

Cox said he has lived in this particular quiet neighborhood for about five years. “We’ve had kids ding-dong ditch,” Cox said. “Never seen somebody pull a gun and point it at my front door.”

On March 16 at around 5:45 in the morning, Cox’s Ring camera captured a black or dark-colored truck pulling up to his house. Two people in hoodies and masks then walked up to his driveway, before they checked to see if his two cars in the driveway were locked. In the video, you can see they both flash their weapons at the camera, before one of them begins to smash into the window of one of the cars while the other stands guard, pointing their gun at the house.

“This is kind of unusual,” said Sgt. Ronnie Taylor with CSPD. “Obviously, when somebody is displaying a gun, they’re kind of raising the antics.”…
