Fort Carson fire 86% contained, smoke expected along Highway 115

(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — After the reopening of Highway 115, more good news is coming out of the fire burning on Fort Carson, as it has now reached 86% containment, as of the latest update on Friday morning, March 27, around 8 a.m.

“A reminder that travelers should proceed with caution while using Highway 115 to avoid any distracted driving while emergency services monitor containment lines,” wrote a Fort Carson official on Friday.

Highway 115 reopens after weeklong fire closure

The latest update also included that the ‘READY’ pre-evacuation status for those who live within the two-mile radius along County Road F45 and Highway 115 is no longer in effect.

Smoke will be visible again on Friday, according to the Fort Carson Official, who reminded those driving in the area not to stop along the highway and to watch out for wildlife trying to get back into the area.
