HSPPR reminding new pet owners of the 3-3-3 Rule

(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is sharing the story of Bubbles, a stressed, anxious cat who needed time to let her true self shine, and how giving a new pet similar time will allow them to adjust.

According to HSPPR, when Bubbles first arrived at HSPPR, she had literally pulled her hair out. Stress and anxiety had taken over in a bad way, leaving her with bald spots and a lot of uncertainty. Bubbles didn’t just need a home; she needed patience, understanding, and someone willing to let her move at her own pace.

Bubbles’ new mom saw past the stress and into her sweet, quirky little soul. However, HSPPR said even in a loving home, big changes are still big. That is where the 3-3-3 Rule comes into play.

The first 3 days of having a new pet should be total decompression mode. HSPPR said to think of things like hiding under blankets, side-eyeing everything, and politely declining all social invitations. Bubbles spent time figuring out if they were safe, with lots of cozy spots, quiet time, and zero pressure to be anything other than a slightly overwhelmed queen…
