COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Music, beer, and crowds filled Finlay Park for the inaugural Songbird Festival.
Live music is not new to Columbia’s revamped park. Finlay Friday’s live music has been a hit since February. But planning the first ticketed event at Finlay was not just a walk in the park.
“It’s not just one or two people, it’s an entire community of people that have to build an event like this,” said John Katz, deputy director of Finlay Park. “Music festivals start very organically. Once you announce the headliner, that’s when people start getting interested. It’s really exciting to bring the music to the people in an environment like Finlay Park and keep it affordable.”…
