‘It was beautiful’: Salute From the Shore wows Grand Strand beachgoers on Fourth of July

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Every day, planes and helicopters fly over the beaches on the Grand Strand, but the aircraft that soared overhead on Saturday during the annual Fourth of July Salute From The Shore created a unique experience.

For 16 years, the event has captured the attention of hundreds along the South Carolina Coast. In the afternoon, people lined the shores in anticipation of the arriving military aircraft.

“My husband planned to be here at 10:30, 10:45,” Patsy Almany said. “Have lunch at Wicked Tuna and come stand out here and watch the planes go by.”…
