TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Frozen blueberries sold at Publix were recalled after they were connected to a dozen E. coli cases.
On July 3, Publix said that Chilean company Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. initiated the recall of 10-ounce bags of frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries, which were sold throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The affected products have a lot code of 60401 and a best by date of Feb. 9, 2028. Publix urges customers to check their freezers, and to return or throw away any frozen GreenWise blueberries products with a purchase date of July 3 or earlier.
The recall comes after 12 people reported experiencing stomach illness between May 11 and June 5, which was linked with E. coli infections. The organism can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting, and while most healthy people recover within a week, serious complications from the illness can affect young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems…
