LR5 school district addresses special ed teacher controversy amid parent concerns

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -The Lexington-Richland School District 5 board faced concerned parents at a meeting Monday night as it addressed growing controversy over a special education teacher charged with assaulting a student with special needs.

Sharon Sweatt was arrested last October and charged with third-degree assault and battery after an incident at Nursery Road Elementary School. Two teacher aides reported that Sweatt slapped a student, according to reports.
